Located in the heart of Arges County, in the historical region of Muntenia, Curtea de Arges shines as a place filled with history and national pride. It was the first capital of Wallachia and can truly be called the cradle where the medieval state of Valahia was born. One of the most well-known and impressive attractions of Curtea de Arge\u0219 is the Curtea de Arge\u0219 Monastery. This historic monastery holds a special place in the hearts of Romanians and is one of the most important and beautiful churches in the country. It is closely tied to a series of historical events and legends, the most famous being the legendary tale of Master Manole.<\/p>\n

The Curtea de Arge\u0219 Monastery was built in the 16th century and remains a notable example of Romanian architecture from that time. Another notable architectural gem in Curtea de Arge\u0219 is the Archbishop’s Cathedral, a stunning religious building constructed in the Neo-Byzantine style. The Cathedral serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of Arge\u0219 and Muscel and impresses visitors with its architectural beauty and rich interior decorations.<\/p>\n

In 1886, Curtea de Arge\u0219 became a ‘Royal Town’ when King Carol I designated the Curtea de Arge\u0219 Monastery as the royal necropolis. This historic act brought another level of prestige and significance to this historic town.<\/p>\n
