The B\u00e2lea area, a corner of the F\u0103g\u0103ra\u0219 Mountains, harbors one of Romania’s most impressive natural treasures – B\u00e2lea Lake, also known as B\u00e2lea Lac. This beautiful glacial lake is located in Sibiu County and is considered one of the most well-known and beautiful lakes of this kind in the country.<\/p>\n

Situated at a stunning altitude of approximately 2,034 meters above sea level, B\u00e2lea Lake stands out as one of the highest glacial lakes in Romania. It is part of a significant natural reserve, spanning an area of 180 hectares and bordered by the impressive peaks of the F\u0103g\u0103ra\u0219 Mountains, such as V\u00e2n\u0103toarea lui Buteanu (2,507 m), V\u00e2rful Capra (2,496 m) and V\u00e2rful Paltinu Mare (2,398 m), along with Muchia Buteanu and Piscul B\u00e2lii. This exceptional area shelters not only spectacular landscapes, but also a variety of rare plants, such as edelweiss, and protected animals, including the chamois, lynx, and golden eagle.<\/p>\n

B\u00e2lea Lake is easily accessible, located approximately 77 km from Sibiu, 68 km from F\u0103g\u0103ra\u0219, and 85 km from Curtea de Arge\u0219. During the summer season, it can be easily explored via the famous Transf\u0103g\u0103r\u0103\u0219an highway. During the rest of the year, the journey to B\u00e2lea Lake becomes a unique experience with the help of the cable car, which starts from the B\u00e2lea Waterfall Chalet, located near the B\u00e2lea waterfall.<\/p>\n
